--Joe Johnson finally seemed to shake off his funk, finishing with 21 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 40 minutes against the Clippers. It was a nice rebound after six straight games without playing much like the All-Star folks have come to know; Johnson made eight of his 17 shots. In the six games prior to Wednesday, Johnson averaged just 14.5 points, a whopping 7.5 points below his season average, while shooting just 32 percent (32-for-100) from the floor and just 24 percent (5-for-21) from beyond the three-point line.
"I think he made up for it (Wednesday night)," Mike Bibby said. "It happens, guys going through a tough stretch. The important thing is that you fight your way back. And that's what he did."
--The start of Wednesday's game didn't make anyone think they were in store for an instant classic. Neither team got off to a great start (the Hawks shot 1-for-7 and the Clippers 2-for-9). And those struggles continued throughout the first quarter, the Hawks shot 29 percent to the Clippers' 20.
The Hawks took a lead at the end of the first at just 15-12.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We've got to build from this. We went into a little slump. And now we have to turn it around and go on a winning streak." -- Flip Murray, on the Hawks' need to flip the page from their recent losing streak.
