--Hawks players watched the inauguration on the Jumbotron at the United Center after shootaround practice Tuesday.Hawks coach Mike Woodson said the view couldn't have been better from anywhere other than the National Mall in Washington D.C.
"It was a beautiful thing to see," Woodson said. "All the guys got a chance to stretch out in the high dollar seats and watch history unfold with Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States. It has a nice ring to it doesn't it?"
--Hawks guards Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby had special shoes for the occasion, delivered by Jordan Brand.
Both pairs of red, white and blue shoes were customized for each player, complete with their personal logos. The date, Jan. 20, 2009, was also included to commemorate the historical moment.
"The look pretty good to me," Johnson said before breaking into a wide smile. "Really good."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Mike carried us. And we talked about this the other day. I huddled these guys together and told them that the guys that maybe haven't played, I know their timing might be a little off, but this is an opportunity to play. And the guys that have been playing for us, they have to step it up and play big-time for us. And I thought Mike did that. Zaza had a monster second half for us and Josh Smith was solid for the second straight game rebounding and scoring inside." -- Hawks coach Mike Woodson on his team's performance.
