--Hawks coach Mike Woodson didn't have a convenient explanation for his team's feeble 25-point second-half scoring effort Thursday. After all, what do you say when your team makes just 11 of 43 field goals in two quarters of play? "We just couldn't make shots like we did in the first half," Woodson said, trying his best to explain away a post-halftime meltdown. "It wasn't that our defense was that bad, but they were scoring and we couldn't make shots."
--The giving started a day early for Hawks forward Josh Smith, who was host to more than 200 women and children from an Atlanta homeless and recovery shelter.
"It was just an opportunity that seemed to good to pass up," Smith said. "Anytime you can make these kids smile and these women smile for their kids, that's a good thing. It's a beautiful thing."
