--Josh Smith led the Hawks on Sunday with 23 points, seven rebounds and five blocks. But it was not nearly enough to offset the production the Pistons got from their collective. "It was lack of effort," Smith said. "We needed to know their personnel. We have to know that Ben Wallace is going to play hard and keep boxing out. It is kind of discouraging for us today because we knew how many guys that they had out that were really key guys. We had all of our guys out there, and not being able to get the win is very disappointing."
--Outside of the work of Jamal Crawford, Hawks coach Mike Woodson has shortened his rotation tremendously. Neither veteran Joe Smith nor rookie point guard Jeff Teague saw action against the Pistons on Sunday.
Woodson's actions differ dramatically from his stated goal, from the start of training camp, to extend his rotation. It's not as if Woodson doesn't have time to fix this issue, but most folks choose to believe it when they can see it. "We need everybody," Mo Evans said.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's one thing to slip every now and then, but we've got to stop this, and now." -- Josh Smith, on the Hawks losing three times in the last four games.
