Atlanta Hawks Notes, Quotes 2009-12-14

Atlanta Hawks Notes, Quotes 2009-12-14--Marvin Williams ran into some stomach problems before the game that forced him out of the Hawks' lineup. The result was Mo Williams filling in for him and leading the Hawks in scoring with 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the floor. And Evans did this without playing nearly at all in the second quarter. "It just shows you the depth on our team," Mike Bibby said. "This entire team is capable of doing big things if given the opportunity. Those are the best kinds of teams to play on."

--The Nets didn't leave with any delusions about who they are. But they did exit Philips Arena with first hand respect for the team the Hawks have become. "We were still able to hang with one of the best teams in the East," Brook Lopez said. Nets coach Kiki Vandeweghe had a similar reaction. He spoke like he knew his team wasn't going to win the game without some sort of otherworldly intervention. "We just have to recognize that (on Sunday night) the Hawks are better," he said. "The bottom line is the Hawks are just a good team."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Our defensive intensity picked up and we didn't let up. That's the easy way to explain it." -- Hawks captain and All-Star Joe Johnson, on why the Hawks are having such an easy time of things lately.
