--Acie Law IV hasn't found a consistent home in the playing rotation this season.Saturday's starting assignment (Law's first of the season), however, provided the crease he needed to make a case for a more prominent role.
"It's true what they say, you never know when your number is going to be called so you have to be ready," Law said. "I feel like I've played pretty solid the past few games and doing whatever coach asks me to do. And really that's all I can do."
Law has seen action in six straight games, his best streak since appearing in the first 17 games of the season.
"This is his chance," coach Mike Woodson said. "And I'm going to help him along and see what he's got. Because despite what it looks like, he's a big part of what we're doing around here."
--The Hawks' shooting troubles began early Saturday night, like usual. And they trailed big early, 13 points in the first quarter and by 10 at the start of the second quarter.
The Hawks have trailed after the first quarter in six of their last eight games. And they've trailed by 10 or more at the end of the first quarter five times this season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "What defense? Those guys scored any way they wanted to score and we really didn't make an effort to stop them." -- Hawks F Marvin Williams, on the Hawks' totally inept defensive showing Saturday.
