--F Josh Smith scored 11 points before being ejected for a hard foul on Matt Harpring on a fast break with 8:40 to play. Harpring was still fuming after taking an elbow to the face from Joe Johnson earlier in the quarter. So he charged Smith as soon as he got up off the floor. Both players had to be restrained from going after each other.Smith finally made his way to the locker room, raising his hands to incite the crowd even more as he walked off. But the damage was done long before that. The Jazz was leading 99-77 when the play occurred.
--The Hawks were once again done in by the basics.
They were out-rebounded 42-31 -- including 14 offensive boards by the Jazz -- and had 20 turnovers in the game. That opened the door for repeated easy baskets for the Jazz.
The Hawks' continued inattention to detail remains their Achilles' heel. Night after night they find a way to fall asleep on the basics.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "This was an embarrassment. We didn't even compete." -- Hawks coach Mike Woodson on his team's meltdown Monday night at Utah.
