Atlanta Hawks Notes, Quotes 2009-03-24
--G Acie Law IV joined Marvin Williams on the inactive list for the second straight game Monday. Like Williams, Law has a lower-back problem. Williams is out indefinitely with lower back pain that could cost him the rest of the regular season. Law has back spasms that will put the rest of his week in jeopardy.

"It's a tough one," coach Mike Woodson said. "We could really use Acie right now, especially with the teams we're going to see this week."

The Hawks host San Antonio on Wednesday, Boston on Friday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. With Williams out, the door was open to more playing time for Law.

He played in 10 straight games before missing Saturday's game in Cleveland. It was his longest stretch of consecutive appearances since the first 12 games of the season.

Woodson said it isn't clear when Law will return.

"He just woke up one morning and his back had locked up on him," Woodson said, shaking his head. "I hate it for Acie because he really had a chance to help us right now and he's out."

--The Hawks Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson to their 22-point halftime lead Monday night.

The veteran backcourt duo combined for 28 points on 13-for-21 shooting from the floor, and that included just two three-pointers.

Bibby led the Hawks with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists -- normally a full night's work for Bibby. Johnson added 13 points and six rebounds. They outscored Minnesota's starters 28-27 in the first half.

Toss in Flip Murray's 14 points off the bench and it's easy to see why the Hawks dominated from the start.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "You can't give a team like Atlanta a cushion because it'll be too hard to catch up. They can score in bunches and they have a lot of offensive threats, and Flip was the weapon of choice tonight." -- Timberwolves captain Mike Miller, on Flip Murray.
