Atlanta Hawks Notes, Quotes 2008-06-18
--Watching Detroit rookie Rodney Stuckey represent the rookie class in the playoffs inspired Hawks rookie point guard Acie Law IV.

Mostly because Law was hoping to have a similar impact for his team in the postseason -- something that never came to fruition in the Hawks' first round series against Boston.

"I don't think anybody is going to be as eager to get to summer league as I am," Law said. "Normally guys are probably bumming about summer league, but not me. I feel like I have to get back on the floor as soon as possible to make up for lost time. There's a whole lot that I left on the shelf in my rookie season because of injuries and whatever else. That's my motivation now, to make up for lost time."

--F Josh Smith will have to interrupt his already rigorous offseason workout regimen next week.

Luckily, it's for a good cause.

Smith and his father are heading to Africa (Senegal, to be exact) for some humanitarian work and basketball work with his shoe sponsor, adidas.

Smith is a regular on the international circuit during the summers, having already made similar stops in Europe and Asia earlier in his career. The trip to Africa, however, is one that Smith said he's been looking forward to for years.

"Every time you have an experience overseas it's an eye opener and an educational experience," Smith said. "But to be able to go to Senegal and just set foot on the continent of Africa is something that everybody wishes they could do. So I cherish the opportunity."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "When we have something to report on our coaching situation, we'll (release) it." -- Hawks general manager Rick Sund, stonewalling the media about the contract extension offered to Mike Woodson.
