Atlanta Hawks Roster Report 2008-12-07
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mike Bibby, Shooting guard Joe Johnson, Small forward Marvin Williams, Power forward Josh Smith, Center Al Horford. Bench -- Guard Flip Murray, Guard Acie Law IV, Guard Mario West, Guard Mo Evans, Guard Speedy Claxton, Forward Thomas Gardner, Forward Othello Hunter, Forward Solomon Jones, Forward/Center Zaza Pachulia, Center Randolph Morris.

--G Joe Johnson had to work for everything he got against the Mavericks, doing hand-to-hand combat with Devean George for most of his night. Johnson got frustrated in the third quarter and even shouted at the officials after one particularly rugged sequence that included George shoving him from behind four times as he tried to back down toward the basket. If he thought George was rough, wait until he sees Houston's Ron Artest Tuesday night.

--F Josh Smith was another Hawks starter that allowed the chippy nature of Saturday's game to mess with him. Smith spent so much of his time barking back and forth with the officials in the third quarter that he was often a step slow getting set on defense, allowing the Mavericks to find some nice mismatches -- he's the only Hawks player capable of an adequate matchup with Dirk Nowitzki.

--F Solomon Jones got a chance to get back into the action Saturday night with Al Horford out of the lineup. But Jones had more baskets for the Mavericks than he did the Hawks, getting called for basket interference or goaltending three times on the night. The game moved faster than he was ready for and it showed.
