Atlanta Hawks Roster Report 2009-01-06

Atlanta Hawks Roster Report 2009-01-06
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mike Bibby, Shooting guard Joe Johnson, Small forward Mo Evans, Power forward Josh Smith, Center Al Horford. Bench -- Guard Flip Murray, Guard Acie Law IV, Guard Mario West, Guard Speedy Claxton, Forward Thomas Gardner, Forward Othello Hunter, Forward Solomon Jones, Forward/center Zaza Pachulia, Center Randolph Morris.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Joe Johnson didn't have his most prolific scoring night by any stretch, but he did manage a season-high 14 assists to go along with 14 points in a huge win over the Rockets. Johnson had the ball stolen from him twice in the final two minutes but still managed to find G Mike Bibby for the game-winning shot.

--G Flip Murray was huge off the bench for the Hawks, contributing 17 points and four rebounds in a yeoman's effort when the Hawks needed it most. Murray isn't necessarily the prototypical point guard, but he's the ideal second unit guard for a team that needs scoring the way the Hawks do when the starters are on the bench.

--G Acie Law IV got a chance to shed his warmups and show the world that he was indeed wearing a uniform under that costume. He was excellent in limited minutes against the Rockets, finishing his night with four points, two assists, two steals and a rebound in a winning effort. The only question is, will he get a chance to do it again?

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Marvin Williams, who sat out Saturday's game with a left shoulder strain, is day-to-day.

--G Speedy Claxton remains on the inactive list with a hamstring injury and isn't likely to be in the Hawks' plans anytime soon.
