SEEN AND HEARD AT VERIZON CENTER
Injured guard DeShawn Stevenson is done for the season and will have surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back Thursday, the guard said in the locker room before the Washington Wizards' home game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Stevenson, who struggled mightily in the first two months of the season, had an X-ray on New Year's Day after shooting pains in his back and legs became too great for him to continue playing. The X-ray revealed that a disk in his back had slipped and was pinching a nerve. Stevenson sat out the next 15 games while receiving treatment on his back in an attempt to avoid surgery. He returned for a brief stint Jan. 30 and 31 but after just two games back, he returned to the sidelines.

Failing to feel any improvement in his back, Stevenson met with a specialist last week and after pondering the option of surgery decided to have the procedure scheduled.

Stevenson, who was posting a career-low 6.6 points a game, said his rehabilitation will last roughly two months, which would put him back on the court some time in May - after the Wizards' season is over. ...

Due to Monday's inclement weather, any Wizards fans with unused tickets to the Hawks game can bring them to the

Verizon Center box office beginning Wednesday at 10 am. and exchange them for tickets to the March 11 game against New Orleans.

BY THE NUMBERS

5: Teams this season that have posted sweeps over the Wizards. Atlanta and Philadelphia are 4-0 against Washington, while Milwaukee won all three of its meetings with the Wizards. Portland and the Lakers went 2-0 in their contests against Washington.
