HOW ACIE BECAME A HAWK: Selected as the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft. 2007 SUMMER LEAGUE: Named to the Rocky Mountain Revue All-Tournament Team after putting up 13.6 ppg, 6.0 apg and 2.4 rpg in 27.8 mpg (.440 FG%, .821 FT%) • Started all five contests he played in • Led the Revue in apg, and ranked 10th in FT%. COLLEGIATE CAREER: Law played 122 games (106 starts) for Texas A&M, and averaged 13.7 points and 4.5 assists (.466 FG%, .357 3FG%, .760 FT%) • He won the Bob Cousy Award, presented to the nation’s top point guard by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame • Nicknamed “Captain Clutch” for his ability to take over the game late in contests, one of Law’s gutsy wins came at Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse when he led the Aggies to a stunning 69-66 upset (2/3/07) • Finished his career as the school’s third all-time leading scorer with 1,669 points, third in assists (545) and sixth in steals (156) • Texas A&M reached the NCAA Tournament in his final two seasons • (2006-07) Texas A&M opened the season with high expectations – a #6 ranking – the highest the school had ever achieved, and Law helped the Aggies to a 16-2 start • He led the team in scoring (18.1 ppg, 5th in the Big 12) and assists (5.0 apg, third) • Law also ranked among conference leaders in FG% (.500) • Playing all 50 minutes in a double-OT 98-96 loss against Texas (2/28/07), he racked up a season-high 33 points and dished out five assists • His three-pointer at the end of regulation tied the game, and he came back with another three with 26 seconds left in the first OT to again tie the game before the Longhorns prevailed • Law posted 20 or more points 18 times • A finalist for the Naismith and Wooden Awards, he earned consensus first team All-America honors • Law was also named first team All-Big 12 for the second straight season • As a junior (2005-06), became one of four players in A&M history to reach 1,000 career points, 300 assists and 100 steals, Law led the Aggies with 16.1 points overall and 17.3 in Big 12 play, with 3.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists (.448 FG%, .764 FT%) • He helped Texas A&M to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1987 on the strength of ranking among the conference’s Top 10 in scoring, assists, steals and FG percentage • Capped off a career-high night with team records of 35 points and seven steals against Oklahoma State • Under new coach Billy Gillispie and Law’s inspired play as a sophomore (2004-05), the team improved from 7-21 to 21-10, earning a trip to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) • He started in 30 games and tallied 12.0 ppg and 4.9 apg (.493 FG%, .384 3FG%, .716 FT%), and was named honorable mention All-Big 12 • Law scored in double figures in 20 games • He played in all 27 games as a freshman (2003-04) and started in 12 of them • Law averaged 7.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
